How to invest in the next generation?
Last week a participant entered a course I also attended. He immediately impressed me with his apparent serenity. I learned his name was Ravi (without the oli he said) ;). A very funny guy from London with roots in India, father of three grown-up kids and with a sort of buddhist inner peace.
In the getting to know exercise- invited to share our personal power- he spoke with a powerful inner voice. This is what he said :
I am ready.
It is not about me anymore. I’ve done my job, my thing. I have learned to feed my ego and at the same time was fully open to learn from others around me.
I’m ready to hand over to the next generation.
And as we don’t leave a better world for them, we have to make them stronger to deal with the future. We have to polish, challenge and support them and always be grateful for the lessons they teach us.
It is not about us anymore; it is about them…for generations to come.”
Can you imagine I sat there with goosebumps all over? And hardly could hold my tears during the hot chair check out after three intense days? this guy was very special to me.
How do you invest in the next generation without pushing your own truths and believes? A beautiful subject for reflection in a team dialogue or intimate moment with your partner, some dear friends or even yourself.
